Mountain Shadows Malamute Kennel is proud to announce that 4 males and 2 females were successfully birthed via c-section this afternoon as Aurora continued to have trouble with whelping. We took her back to the vet. Oxytocin didn’t do the trick so we opted for C-section for the safety of Aurora and the puppies.
Each puppy will be featured with a photograph later tonight, along with statistics on our Available Alaskan Malamutes page. I will also add a page to MountainShadowsMalamutes.com featuring nothing but puppy pics and updates as our six new pack members begin to grow!
Remember, you can learn more about reserving a purebred, AKC registered Alaskan Malamute puppy by visiting our Purchase Policy and filling out our contact form.
As an aside, for the sake of Aurora’s health, this, her first litter, will most likely be her last. We will discuss this with our veterinarian, but we here at Mountain Shadows Malamute Kennel are dedicated to the HEALTH and WELL-BEING of our Malamutes. This includes the safety of both dams and puppies during whelping. We would rather fix Aurora and have a happy, healthy dog with a long life ahead of her than put her life and the lives of future litters at risk by continuing to breed her, even though this is a superb litter. Our Malamutes are our family. We will not breed a dog who will not improve our kennel and the Malamute breed as a whole, or who is not able to have litters safely and naturally. Our pledge to all who purchase puppies from Mountain Shadows Malamute Kennel is to continue breeding only for excellence out of love of the animals, not for profit.
