"Old Man Doggy" Shadow
Shadow was our family pet from 2001 until we had to let him go home in the fall of 2009 at the age of 17. He was a good dog, faithful, loving and the absolute best family pet you could ever ask for. In remembrance of our “Old Man Doggy” and the fact that we live in the shadow of Pike’s Peak, we named our kennel Mountain Shadows.
Our philosophy is simple: Breed excellent Alaskan Malamutes to go to good homes where they will be valued for the amazing, beautiful animals they are. We will not compromise on this. If breeding a dog does not improve the species, we will not breed the dog.
Likewise, responsible pet ownership is important. A Malamute can be a member of a working dog sled team, a member of the family, a running partner … There are many things this amazing breed is ideal for. We want to make sure that when you choose and Alaskan Malamute, it is the right dog for you and your family. You can learn more about the species HERE.
We prefer to meet our puppies’ new families, that is why we do not ship our puppies via air. Purchasing a Malamute is a big step. We want to help you make certain that a Malamute is the right dog for your family. That does not mean we will not sell puppies to families out of state; it simply means that we will go out of our way to communicate with you to help ensure the puppy is the right choice for you and your family.
Mountain Shadows Malamute Kennel is owned by a veteran and his family. We strongly support the military, and automatically include a military discount for military families purchasing one of our Malamutes. Our family also includes two children with special needs, and we will take special needs families into consideration for discounts on puppies as well.
Mountain Shadows Malamute Kennel is proud to feature only American Kennel Club registered purebred Alaskan Malamutes. As a new kennel, Mountain Shadows can not be listed as an AKC certified kennel until we have registered five litters. We are working toward this goal, but we strictly limit ourselves to breeding two litters a year at most – for the sake of our dogs’ health. We will not waver from the exacting standards for dog breeding established by the AKC and we will continue in the outstanding AKC tradition.
